I do disagree about Elsa still 100%, I think Elsa is gonna heavily depend on the taking the right choices and gonna be harder to romance but I just don't see why she would not be a LI at all unless the dev takes choices away from the player. She just seems like the obvious troupe you see in some TV shows where a MC is gunning for a certain girl but then realizes at some point of who has been infront of him the entire time.
Right, that's basic media literacy. She's definitely one of the two main love interests, I feel people who see her as nothing but a cold, manipulative bitch are projecting a bit too much.

Elsa won't hook up with Edward. She has a goal and won't be sidetracked from it. And she currently sees him as a useful idiot. She is using him to accomplish something. And as I've said before, I assume what she wants to accomplish will be counter to what MC wants to accomplish at some point. And if he is still listening to her blindly when that happens, she will grind him to dust and not look back. She is not a LI.
Elsa is definitely one of the main LI. MC will, for sure, have to make a choice between his fantasy crush and Elsa at some point.
there are many signs. and MC, through the player choices, can add some little gestures that add up.
she might already have feelings for him too. he is the only one she shows her real personality to. and it isn't because she thinks he is harmless and insignificant, as there are others in the company that are like that and she still has her guard up with them, like Matt and the friend that introduced her to the company.

also, MC met Alice and Elsa the same day, and his change began on that day. there is a chance Elsa saw his potential and will the first day, and thought the changes he began was because of her. but then MC revealed it was because of Alice, and she still wanted to help him reach his potential, and hoped he would get over his crush by the time his transformation is over. :D

she doesn't need MC at all to have a very successful career. even if it is a bit quicker to get there with MC, it's still a ton of effort, time and even more risks. it's not really worth it, in the grand scheme of things. she could easily ride her family's connections and money to get to the top.
maybe she helps MC because she is just bored with life. or because she likes him a little bit without acknowledging it. or a little bit of both ?

If there weren't other moments in the VN that seem like they directly contradicted it, I could go with the theory that Elsa is like a Tyler Durden or a "Beautiful Mind" type of character. Her interactions with other characters are so rare that I could almost believe it. And even when she does interact with other characters, weird things happen like how Lucy straight up acts like Elsa isn't there, or how Elsa leaves the coffee she orders on the table. I don't know, maybe it's Eddie doing all of those things and his mind is interpreting those events as Elsa doing them. Maybe Eddie drove himself to Emma's apartment, but his mind interpreted it as Elsa driving him there.

I really need to do another play through since I've forgotten a lot of those details, but it does feel weird to me how isolated her character is. I still think that Elsa is best girl and I hope I'm wrong but now I'm starting to convince myself that Eddie is schizophrenic. After all, he's not exactly mentally sound to begin with.

Hmm.. If that's the case, could Tommy be a figment of his mind too?

It's been a while since I played, but I am almost sure there are a scene in Elsa's apartment and Alice go there later and interact with her and MC. So, I don't know how that would fit in a Fight Club scheme.

No, why would you think that? Do you have a legit response or were you just trying to shitpost?
It is a legit response. I wonder how people manage to misinterpret a work of fiction in such a way. It's like seeing a triangle and telling it has 4 sides.

The Dude just forgot the gazillion times Elsa interacts with people at the office, for instance. How she often chats with Zoe, for instance. Her 2 female friends, for instance - the girl Edward meets at the police station, the girl Edward meets at the café. The coffee shop dude. The scene with Elsa and Lucy. The manager who's harassing Elsa. The fight with the guy for Elsa. The hairdresser.

And so on.

The problem is that people like him think that convoluted, bewildering and obscure plots with out of the blue plot reversals (turns out that everything that you knew is false and shit like that) - like you so often see in popular fiction are smart and brilliant.

They are not. They are CRAP.

Who is the woman on the far right in the banner? Is that Elsa's friend that meets the mc and Elsa at the caffe earlier in the game or someone we have yet to meet? Its not the MC's ex that cheated is it ?

She's Elsa friend we meet at the coffee shop. But maybe, as someone said, Elsa doesn't exist and she was meeting Edward... (well, no!) :sneaky:

Fuck off dude, I'm allowed to tinfoil from time to time. No need to be a dick about it.

The story literally starts out with Edward talking to a voice in his head and perceptions are pretty fucked up for a schizophrenic. What if the interactions he witnessed didn't happen exactly the way it's presented? What if that girl who was getting harassed by Neil Swanger was just a random girl that Edward "manifested" Elsa from. In fight club, there were many instances where Tyler acted as a second party but it turned out that it was the Narrator doing those things and was interacting with those characters. None of the other characters picked up on the fact that he was schizo. All I'm saying is maybe it's something similar. Just because we see Elsa talking to someone or doing something, doesn't mean it actually happened exactly that way in reality.

I'm just saying it'd be an interesting twist. It's no question that Edward's mental instability is a major plot element, so what if we're seeing everything from his warped perception of things?

Honestly I wouldn't mind the schizophrenic theory it be different but sad at the same time if it is true cause I do want a shot at Elsa lol. So far the writing has shown this dev could pull something like that off it's no Sassy Girl lol.

Who borrowed him a car when he went on a date with Lucy for the 1st time? I mean, being schizophrenic, he could imagine going on a date, but I doubt he was imagining driving an expensive car, and he couldn't buy it either cause he is poor.
Who bought him an expensive clothes? Again he couldn't afford it by himself.
Unless everything is happening in his head, well, then all arguments are all pointless in this case)

And about that interaction with Lucy that you mentioned, nah, Lucy didn't act like Elsa wasn't around.

I'm just saying it'd be an interesting twist. It's no question that Edward's mental instability is a major plot element, so what if we're seeing everything from his warped perception of things?
That would be a bummer:LOL:
I mean investing so much time into a character just to be gaslighted like this))) It's almost like to kill MC in the end.

I think he just hates plots like that and i kinda have to agree, they suck :HideThePain:

Its only barely better than "the mc wakes up in his bed and only dreamt the whole story". Figthclub was still epic tho.

It's not a like for like by any stretch, but there are a few broad parallels and some subversions even without the split personality theory. Both of the main characters are schizophrenic spending a good portion of the story talking to a voice in their heads... both are in a quarter life crisis dissatisfied with their work and lifestyle feeling numb and insignificant... Both begin seeking a way to change his life guided by a mentor figure... only where Edward is actually finding success through his changes, Fight Club's "Narrator" thinks he's getting stronger when he's actually getting worse.

There may be a few more parallels, but I haven't watched Fight Club in a while either. Fight Club goes in a way darker direction though. IF it does turn out that Edward is also an unreliable narrator and certain characters such as Elsa or Tommy (or even some minor extras) end up being manifestations of his mental instabilities, then that would be a very obvious parallel. If that's the direction this goes, anyway.

Yeah, not a big fan of those. More often than not these 'twists' come across as lazy writing instead of smart.

I'm guessing Jericho was referring to Fight Club or A Beautiful Mind, suggesting that Elsa could be Ed's imaginary friend :)
There are probably some similarities, but in my opinion too much speaks against it, too many people see Elsa besides Ed.
Those were my thoughts as well.

Yeah, it's gonna turn out ed's the only human left and everyone else is just his imagination. What a twist

The multiple personality disorder stuff with Edward is perfectly legitimate. Just not with Elsa. (I would love the Elsa isn't real idea to be viable. It just is not.)

Edward, in some dialog paths at the cafe, decides to injury himself. And in another path a voice in his head convinces him to injure himself. (Just the capability to follow through on "it's a good idea if I injure myself" is indicative of a mental trauma.)
